Can MicroQuarz be installed in a swimming pool?

MicroQuarz can be perfectly installed in a swimming pool, but it is a very complex installation, because two types of pressure converge in a swimming pool, the phreatic pressure of the outside humidity and the pressure of the water inside the pool.

So in order to be able to install MicroQuarz in a pool, pools must be isolated from the outside because coatings such as MicroQuarz are sensitive to rising damp.
And if we have moisture on the outside of the pool and it gets into the walls or floor of the pool, we can have problems with the liner peeling off.

Therefore, if your pool or the pool you intend to build is insulated from the outside, it can be applied, but if it is not insulated from the outside, we advise against the installation because you may have problems.

Can MicroQuarz be applied to underfloor heating?

Of course it can. Whether it is a new construction or a renovation. As long as you comply with the five important conditions that must be taken into account before starting the installation, which are that the subfloor must be hard, stable, smooth, level and free of damp.

If the work is new, you have to proceed with a previous protocol before the installation, which is called the floor heating protocol. You have to enable the temperature of the underfloor heating slab for three days at the beginning and then three days of lowering. In other words, you turn the heating on gradually for the first three days and the next three days you turn it down gradually.

During this period of time the floor will expand for the first time.

For the first time the subfloor will expand and it is possible that cracks will appear. This is why this protocol is very important before application, so that when the first expansion takes place, it is not later and you may have a cracking problem as a result of this first expansion.

Is MicroQuarz slip resistant?

Of course it is. Even if you want a higher degree of slip-resistance, this can be achieved by adding an additive to the varnish, which is micro glass beads that make the surface very rough and very slip-resistant.

But the actual level of slip resistance that MicroQuarz gives you is like any other type of flooring. It has an R1 anti-slip level, which is the anti-slip level that all flooring has.

There are also different versions of MicroQuarz, such as MicroQuarz Hard Transit, which is a coating that has a difference in surface texture and makes it more slip resistant. It is perfect for exteriors or for commercial spaces where high traffic is required and where a small degree of surface roughness is required for a higher level of slip resistance.
