What are the differences between MicroQuarz® and polished cement?

MicroQuarz microcement is a thin-bed coating, which is approximately 3 millimetres thick. Thanks to quartz and certain resins, MicroQuarz offers a decorative and durable result.
A polished cement needs a polishing machine at the end of its application. And it should be between 8 and 10 centimetres thick.

MicroQuarz has no expansion joints and can also be applied on walls, kitchen worktops, stairs, bathrooms, etc. And it can be applied on top of existing substrates such as ceramic tiles, plaster, plasterboard, etc.
Polished cement does have to have expansion joints because otherwise it can break, split… Because it has shrinkage, the water evaporates, the mass shrinks and then cracks appear.

Another important difference lies in the installation because concrete needs heavy machinery to install it. It also needs special machinery to polish it, it needs a very important amount of material…
MicroQuarz does not need heavy machinery to install it, nor to polish it, nor such a large amount of material because the thickness is much less. Therefore, the work is much cleaner and much smoother.
